Breast & Other Cancer Recovery

Dreyfus icons.png

People at any stage of recovery from a cancer surgery or treatment may benefit from physical therapy to improve range of motion, comfort and endurance. Residual effects of cancer treatment may include loss of range of motion, swelling, pain, scar discomfort, and decreased endurance.

If you've had a very recent surgery; lumpectomy, mastectomy or other type of surgery, radiation or chemotherapy, and are looking to return to your previous level of comfort and activity, please call me to discuss a treatment plan and approach that will suit you.

Even months or years after cancer treatment, people sometimes realize these residual  effects may be limiting their comfort or return to activity that they previously enjoyed.

When you meet with me, we will go over a careful history of your diagnosis and treatment and current and prior functional level. We will then determine the best plan of action to help you gradually return to full function and comfort.

Sessions may include carefully guided therapeutic exercise, endurance activity instruction and manual therapy. A home exercise program will be given at each session and reviewed at follow up sessions. Lymphedema prevention and advice will be part of the session if appropriate to your condition.
